Lyrics
Pre-career
An unusual form of the shakespearian culture
Laid back arms crossed, poetic license altered
Technique and wordplay, put together like a sculpture
Impossible 2 fault ya, but check the words I wrote ya
Time ago, when I adopted my style
I was lost in myself, hard 2 crack a smile
That’s when I realised that I had deep in me
To pour out my thoughts, let my feelings breathe
And let my beings be, I aint a weak emcee
Just started off a novice till I peeped biggie
Learned my game through cassettes, the fuck is cd
My big cuzz hooked me up with big L n easy E
Felt like I knew em, I was chattin 2 the boom box
I was cussin off, but I kept my bedroom locked
Folks didn’t know, if they did, I’d be dead
But I set the foundations so I’d stand in good stead
Chapter 2 of my extra curriculum begun
Summer holidays of 1995 + 1
East-West beef was the word on the streets
But they thought it had ceased when pac was deceased
Didn’t give a fuck when I saw it on the news
Cos I was east coast- at school I had 2 choose
One or the other, so I chose biggie smallz
We laffed at puff daddies name cos it sounded so gay
Few months went by, everybody forgot
But I stayed wid my headfones, till big got popped
That was it, I was bored, I aint hearin no more
I’m putting pen 2 paper now, I can spit 4 sure
This is stupid, I can do this, can’t be that hard
And 2 be honest it wasn’t, but my lyrics wasn’t on it
Shiny suit era arrived, left depth out of view
Mo money mo problems dropped, that was all I knew.
Chapter 3 is how I got to where I be rite now
As you can see, I worked on delivery of my sound
Lyrics got stepped up, when I got on the net
Cos these online manz rhymed me 2 a wreck
Was a wake up call, but its all good
I linked libby n chunks, we burned em up like firewood
That was our crew, 3 of us, our shit was straight
Skipped lessons, went yard, wrote day after day
Thought of a name- “elite roster” eventually
Many joints were toked- this shit was meant 2 be
And we took the fuckin game by the scruff of the neck
When we cut a demo, sent it to the UMS
When da gyal called my crib it was off da chain
Talking bout we made the cut, we was up on soundstage
Went, spat, smashed it, we was ecstatic,
95 to now my pre-career dun lasted, that’s it.
