Story behind the song
I wrote and recorded this in 1988 in my apartment in Long Beach, CA where I was stationed while serving as a Naval Officer aboard the U.S.S. Paul F. Foster DD-964.
This was recorded on a Tascam Porta05 cassette 4 track multi-track. It has three tracks of guitar on it. The 4th track was used to sync up my Roland R5 drum machine. The R5 also had a bass synth in it which is the bass you hear on the recording.
I sequenced the drums and bass through the very tiny R5 editor, creating the different parts and then recording the guitar along with it.
I always liked this song, if not for the music, for the amount of time it took to sequence this by hand and to write the up to 3 parts of layered guitars with counter melodies, etc.
