Dedicated to everyone who knows (or is!) a total antisocial grouch at Christmas. Yahhh, we're gonna come round your house and drink all your booze...

acoustic folk rock
Dave Stannard plays the acoustic guitar and sings, by himself, all on his own. While he sings and plays, he also dances around a lot and is good fun to watch. He calls this "a performance"; most people agree. His songs are actually written by him, and not others, usually. Sometimes the songs turn out quite catchy and people sing them in the bath or play them on local radio shows.

Story behind the song
Someone said I should write a Christmas song, sorta like “The Fairytale of Baz Vegas” or somesuch. I didn’t think I had it in me, but there was a rumbling shortly after a particularly large & lardy lunch, then out popped “Boxing Day“. Lyrics
yeah season's greetings to the lot of you but why did you all have to come to call? you know that fellowship, feasting, giving and receiving has always driven me up the wall so something tells me you'd better turn around. Haven't you heard we're to be snow bound? and your Christmas wish will be to pray for a getaway after 10 rounds with me on Boxing Day Well I fear I've been quite fortunate in the face of festivities I avoided the reins for years but this time it seems the secret santa's me we'll I'll grit my teeth till you get out of my hair just leave your shoes in the hall and the presents over there and don't touch anything or go upstairs and we'll play happy families on Boxing Day So where did the host lose his "Ho Ho Ho"? why does he want to be left alone? what could be keeping him from a happy christmas? scanning the pictures on the mantlepiece seek a clue or two beside the wreath cos if you asked him he'd tell you to mind your own business I think I'm cheering up now, I know the day is saved cos with a little preparation every decoration can become a holly hand grenade e.g: in the unlikely event the kids are good as gold I've hidden one of the controllers for their nintendo and filled a couple of bowls with haribo so nerves will fray as children play on boxing day And, I love the way that christmas coincides with pagan festiv-Yule so if pious aunt Rita runs jumping for jesus I'll be talking Dawkins and pouring dipso Dad a double bender make sure mum missed eastenders tell a cousin she wasn't invited to the wedding of the summer I feel it's my duty to say their misery is my tinsel on the tree of Boxing Day Hip hip hooray for boxing day please come again next boxing day!
