I have been playing and writing songs for more years than most of you have been alive. I started classical piano when I was 8, 12-string guitar when I was ten, and wrote my first song when I was 16. I am largely self-taught, but have benefitted greatly from the many bands I've played with over the years. I've also been an avid listener of music, and sought to incorporate many different styles into my songwriting. As you will hear, my songs reflect the fact that I've been many places and done many things other than just play music. They have, in the original sense of the word, character.

Story behind the song
Written while my son was asleep, and I'd been divorced from my 1st wife for a couple of years. I didn't have custody, actually, but he was with me nearly every night.
Lyrics
When Ya Comin’ Home? Dan Matheny – In the year of our Lord, 1991 So you thought you would call, and check on me, And check out my broken heart. So you made a new friend – who’ll be there to the end. You’re making a better start. Well, I don’t want hear about your new relations, And I don’t care about visitation. All I need to know is when ya comin’ home, girl. So you’ve fallen in love, he’s different you see, He’s changing your way of life. And his friends are all cool, they’re smarter than me, They never knew that you were my wife. And ya say it was never meant to be, That is just a game we sometimes lose. But that boy asleep in his room is yours and mine, Don’t ya see he needs his Mommy too! So ya thought you would call, and check on me, And check out my broken heart…
