I have been playing and writing songs for more years than most of you have been alive. I started classical piano when I was 8, 12-string guitar when I was ten, and wrote my first song when I was 16. I am largely self-taught, but have benefitted greatly from the many bands I've played with over the years. I've also been an avid listener of music, and sought to incorporate many different styles into my songwriting. As you will hear, my songs reflect the fact that I've been many places and done many things other than just play music. They have, in the original sense of the word, character.

Story behind the song
When Bill Clinton was running for President in 1992, he was also having an affair with Jennifer Flowers. I personally knew one of his former prostitutes - a call girl by the name of Judy Gibbs. Poor Judy died in a fire in 1984, right after becoming one of the July Penthouse Pets for that year. Don't be fooled by the pictures though - she was actually much prettier than that. Used to sit around in her panties and bra back in 1975 and 1976 when I was there and talk about how her new client from Hot Springs couldn't even get it up. This was after a number of Black Cows, however.
Lyrics
OH SARIAH! Dan Matheny – In the Year of Our Lord 1992 VI Why is the one who hurts you the most, The one you love? She’s writing a book about the things you did, When you were in love. An’ how could you know it would turn out this way? Aren’t you afraid of the things you know she’lll never say? Chorus But oh Sariah, won’t you tell me what you need? And oh Sariah, won’t you give me what you please? And oh Sariah! Interlude VII An’ why is the one who tells you goodbye the one you see, When nights are long, and days are dreams, Of what will be. An’ how could you know it would take all this time? An’ weren’t you sure that love was always on the line? Back to chorus Interlude VIII An’ why is the one, who hurts you the most, The one you love? She’s writing a book about the things you did, When you were in love. And how could you know it would take all this time? Weren’t you sure that love was always on the line? Back to Chorus
