A one-man-band with all-original material, writing, composing and performing since 2005.
My name is Evan Schafer. I am an independent (or "indie") musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but I like to think my material always has a unique and individual flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005.

Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - acoustic guitar, percussion, vocals I was very intrigued by alternate guitar tunings after listening to quite a heavy load of Nick Drake records. "Above Friday" came to me in the form of a dream, actually, but this time it was the lyrics that came, not the melody. The next evening, I sat with my guitar and tuned it to CGCFCE. Eventually I found the haunting chord structure of the song which I loved from step one of the process. In the final mix, I experimented with echo-chamber effected percussion after being influenced by Simon & Garfunkel's version of "Scarborough Fair".
Lyrics
Corner of Broad and Main On this lovely evening Below a tuscan red sky Flying above Friday Someone is watching you Walk past, don't look, it's okay Watching over you Flying above Friday The night is ending Coming quicker than you think All you can do is sing For yourself and hope it's gonna be alright Once midnight strikes Reach into yourself And keep the spirit alive That you flew above Friday
