Hi folks. I have added a lot of videos recently. Please take a look!
Hi folks, This site acts as a personal archive of my work. So you'll find my best recordings here as well as some pretty crappy ones. The earliest recordings here were made on simple cassette decks, others were made on mobile phones, some are live recordings made at various gigs over the years, a handful were made in small recording studios, but most of the more recent ones were made at home on a Zoom portable studio, which itself is now rather ancient! If you like a song and want to download it, click on 'Full song info' for that song and you will see the download link. You can also read the lyrics and any background information on the songs that I may have added. All my music is available for free - enjoy :) cheers, Charles

Story behind the song
I met a young Malaysian called Hamid Ismail when I was studying at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, in 1969. This song is about our friendship and the pain of separation when he went back to Malaysia - and finally about the universal being within all of us which transcends time and space...
Lyrics
When you and I were young I didn't know you - you didn't know me But on the threads our lives were hung Even though you lived so far away And when we met I never dreamed there'd be a day Leaving you would leave my pillow wet Oh but the future we just can't see We're destined to meet - and destined to part It's something we did somewhere When it was - or who I was I don't remember And when we've done what we came here to do We'll be together by being one With no tears And no fears of being two Well it's easy to say Harder to do To the sea all the rivers flow But we've still got a long way to go A long way to go A long way to go
