Story behind the song
Watching regional news one evening, there was a chase scene of a sheriff following a small pick up truck. The driver and passenger had pretended to buy a riding lawnmower, placed it in the back of their truck, and drove off as if it was paid for. Security guards notified the sheriff's department, who caught up with them and gave chase. During the filming by the dashboard camera in the pursuing sheriff's car, the pickup truck ran a red light at a highway intersecton. The small pickup truck was t-boned in the driver's door by a fully loaded semi-truck traveling through the intersection at near highway speed. The small truck and persons within appeared to vaporize instantly. This will be forever etched in my mind. The occupants of the small truck were teenage kids. For a lawnmower? What were they thinking?
