English lyricist working with dozens of composers and artists
I am a lyricist working with many composers and artists around the world and most frequently with 2 guys, Juri Rosenfeld and Mark Ellis who, although their styles are entirely different, are both extremely talented as musicians and composers, as well as producers. Along with these two, with whom I have written more than 50 songs....I have been most fortunate to collaborate with so many others that the list is almost endless but two very talented ladies spring to mind: Dawn Diamond and Amy Caldwell, who have not only both composed for my words but have also both are possessed of beautiful voices and have sung many, many times on songs I have written. There is no ONE genre I write for, since a lyricist has to be able to write for ANY category and I do, but one thing I try to be always, is honest in my work because when there is integrity, there is a way to relate to the song and if occasionally I meander into the poetic, it is because I am and always have been, since the age of 13 years, a poet...but that doesn't mean everything I write is flowery or full of metaphors...as I say, I strive always to be real and of course, most importantly, to be as unique as possible.

Story behind the song
Originally, I fancied doing something in the style of House of The Rising Sun....but saying that is easier than accomplishing it...still this ended up, with Mark's treatment, as a really pleasing song for me.
Lyrics
Two Bettys lyric by Dawn Sinclair music by Mark Ellis In a place called Two Bettys at a fork on the bend been drinkin since sundown I can’t see no end my troubles are pressing got no will an’ no idea so I’m drownin’ the hurtin’ in whiskey and beer I remember how it used to be when we were young and the pace easy-going The sun was round, the women too the grapes were fat and wine was always flowing Our laughter filled the taverns from the Sydney harbour wharves to the back streets of old Perth, down by the jetties And I remember finding love and losing it again in a tavern on a bend known as Two Bettys The barman was a friend of mine and I’d pick-up all the empties before leaving We’d spin a yarn, like Kublai Khan the girls drew close, lust made them so believing Our laughter filled the taverns from the Sydney harbour wharves to the back streets of old Perth, down by the jetties And I remember finding love and losing it again in a tavern on a bend at that tavern on the bend known as Two Bettys In a place called Two Bettys at a fork on the bend been drinkin since sundown I can’t see no end my troubles are pressing got no will an’ no idea so I’m drownin’ the hurtin’ in whiskey and beer

Easily five stared all the way round. Dawn your lyrics are always perfect, I've come to expect nothing less and have not yet been dissapointed, but I guess I could just apply that same statement to Mark's musical talents. As usual, a finely crafted piece of music, it's too easy to get into this tune and start singing along. I love the harmonica and the harmonies are bang on. Another fine offering from all involved.

I've first heard Blues from the British Bands,- and this song is most certainly great example of British Blues Genre.I love this type of songs very much, and Mark did spectacular job on it on all counts. It's so easy "to loose the blues" with this harmonal changes, but Mark very smartly escaped this potential pitfall. "Spinnin' the yarn, like Klubai Khan "???!!! Wowie!Who's that ? I was only aware of Chingiz Khan and Batu-Khan. Lyrics is great overally, but, also, consists of few jewels that kinda stick to your mind immediately on the first listening. All in all,-great collab from the talented collaborators.Hugglies and Kisslies!

Hugglies babe, great beat great tune and Mark has done a top job with this. He has a good voice for that bluesy/folksy sound and the use of the harmonica has given this a nice edge. Loved the lyrics, they have a fair dinkum feel to them . Well done both.
