CROSS ROADS / IS THIS THE TIME? (1980 ver)
Cyrus is a singer-songwriter from India who has been writing lyrics and music for over four decades.
Story behind the song
Thoughts upon realising one is leaving 5 years of College life and entering a new world.... one realises that the time one has dreamed of, through all those years in college, is upon us, and, all of a sudden we're not so sure it's what we want any more.
Architecture students will, hopefully, still recognise some of the references in the last verse.
This one was written and recorded in 1980.
Lyrics
CROSS ROADS / IS THIS THE TIME?
Is it right that we're too young now?
Is it so wrong for us to choose?
Is it true that we could never win?
That we only stand to lose?
I'm not looking for an answer,
I just want to see the way-
Is your mind made up to leave me?
Would you rather that I stay?
So...is this the time I've waited for?
Can this be all, or is there more?
Is this the time, must I
Pass through that door?
Is this the time I've waited for...
The time has come to settle the score
Now do we all get off the floor?
It's all been fun, but there is just no more
Is this the time I've waited for?
My five years summer's turned to fall-
And will there be no tears at all?
Will I be missed? Will you
Know that I've gone?
Will I be just one more passer-on?
Is this the time for parting songs?
We've known each other for so long:
Are you gonna cry, or are you-
Gonna try to be strong?
Do we say goodbye, or just so long?
And, do you remember Atom Bombs?
And toilet doors?
And smoldering knees?
And plans of floors?
And dotting trees?
And sleepless nights?
And falling in love?
And unmade beds?
And that's enough
To make me cry,
Because I find
That I'm too young
For memories...
Even these...even these...
Do you remember?
Oh, do you remember...
