Lyrics
Hi my names lucy, and I'm seven years old I rock a quiet smile, a quiet child I speak through charcoal I place purified carbon to the pavement and watch my youthful understanding display itself with the chaulk this sedimentary rock that I talk with has a soul of it's own and that helps portray me as a whole, it's as apart of me as my bones I speak in earth tones when I'm painting my tree's by the sea the sunsets that I've seen, and the summers so green it may seem complacent, but I don't need to dream cause I embrace this beautiful scene gods deemed fit for me to wake with I'm a sidewalk philosopher cautiously watchin fer tragedy seekin helicopters and bent outta shape officers I put em all to the pavement, create the canvas where I can make it paint the pictures as I see em, not how you presume to take em I've drawn a hundred moments in time, a thousand lovers entwined a hundred thousand people just doin' their daily grind I've seen a man shot on that corner, and that one I saw intervention divine and that divine intervention turned into a divine inspiration of mine I put the lines down carefully, warily, this one would have to be perfect the experience had left me at a loss, and pictures are words for the wordless I walked the length of my block, dragging the chaulk on the edge of one side of the pavement turned around when I'd reached the end, placed another perpendicular line on the other side, for the same length I traced it now I had my weeks work encapsulated inside this open box left the two ends open in case the lives I'd drawn decided to take a walk I'd realized that this game is open ended, and you can do as you please right then I knew that I could do anything, or not, cause someone else will do it if it's not me I'd decided to make my destiny mine, so far I was doing exceptionally fine realized that the life of luxury took alot, essentially time and I'd decided that my time would be devoted to helping this concrete speak it has a lot to say, see how it never cracks even after being walked upon by so many feet so my chaulk and me stayed with the curb, working and speaking in patient bliss you should too sometime.. you'd be surprised, these streets are quite the conversationalist
