While listening to your music I was impressed by all the different styles and influences that shine through your tunes. Right, I guess it's because I love music and not just certain styles of music. Except for certain aggressive styles of pop music I love music from all over the globe, from classical to popular and from medieval to contemporary. For me music is a universal language that crosses all our man-made borders. So it's only natural to hear all those influences in my compositions. After listening to some of your spherical ambient pieces I was amazed to learn that you are a percussionist... In fact I started my musical career as a percussionist! I always was working on arrangements, mixing and production too. But I did not write my own music in those early years. Over the time I felt an urge to write music to express my inner feelings and experiences on keyboards and synthesizers. But I still love to play drums and percussions. Is that the reason why you are active in many different music projects? Yes, I'm running about three or four distinct projects that all have their own approach. Specialising on specific styles and concepts helps me to get a clear focus for my music. And I think it's also easier to digest for the audience that way... Tell us a bit about these projects. For instance I'm addressing fans of ambient and new age music with my project Narad. Then there is a world fusion project called that blends Indian spiritual music with western pop grooves. Whenever I'm in the mood for some really grooving or funky tracks I'll publish them under my project. Here latin percussion, spanish guitars, arabian rhyhtms and Indian Ragas meet Funk and Dub. Apart from that I'm also collaborating with various artist from all over the globe. The Internet makes it so easy to produce exiting music this way. Coming back to the music here in the Narad project, what is it about? For me writing music is all about sharing experiences, feelings and emotions. When I experience a state of deep inner peace and tranquility I don't just want to keep that peace for myself but wish to share it with others. And so I wrote the track Tranquility and share it with you. And what does the Name "Narad" stand for? In Indian mythology Narad is the messenger of the gods. He corresponds with Hermes and Mercury in greek and roman mythology. Narad is a traveller to the world of the gods. His poems and his music tells the stories of those journeys. Are you currently working on new music? What plans do you have for the future? I'm currently working on a new album. I hope to finish it within the next months. It will contain twelve music meditations about positive psychological aspects and qualities like sincerity, gratitude or perserverance. Music is about giving. The musician gives to the audience. I want to give positive and helpful things like love, peace and light.
