It's a Trio, Me, Myself and I
Story behind the song
Looking back to the earlier days, at the start of my family. Through it all, it was worth all of that.
Lyrics
It Was Worth All Of That
(Jim Russ)
Before my two little girls it was just her and I
Living together, loving together, I was a hell of a guy
But with the good times came the bad times
Somehow we made it through
Tears on her pillow, the things that some men do
But I just tried harder the best that I could do
Tried hard to love her the only way I knew
(Chorus)
When I look back, I can’t help but think was it worth all of that?
Just one look at this woman of mine
It was worth all of that
So many changes came with our first little baby girl
Up all night hoping everything’s right in our new mom and daddy world
I thought I’d hear “you’re daddy of the year” that’s how I felt inside
Sometimes I felt so lonely, I longed for my bride
But the love of our baby came first in my book
Just her little smile was all that it took
(Chorus)
When I look back, sometimes I’ll think was it worth all of that?
From where I sat, one thing I’ve learned
It was worth all of that
Another girl born and another to love
At times we prayed for strength from above
Little muddy shoes and terrible two’s with their million dollar smiles
Breaking things and peanut butter fingers touching all the stereo dials
When we look back it’s tempting to think was it worth all of that?
Carried them on my back, look at them now, it was worth all of that
Deep down inside forget when we cried ‘cause it was worth all of that
It was worth all of that
