The Spinach Wade juxtaposition incorporates: bizarre rhymes, phat hooks, and lyrics that are generally light in subject matter, performed along side progressive hip-hop beats. He experiments with different musical scales exploring moody and dramatic themes that are cool but generally not too dark. He uses different textures and sounds that are not especially common in mainstream hip-hop. His sounds are layered on aggressive breakbeat styled drum patterns. His biggest drum influences come from the Beastie Boy’s “Paul’s Boutique” album, and also all of Portishead’s material. Mixing and sequencing are one of his fortes. He likes to break down his loops and then build them back up in momentous arrangement’s that culminate during the hook, as he drives them along with his visceral almost punk-rock style of delivery. With his big voice that is, slightly buzzy and raspy’ he spits a polyrhythmic concoction of rhyme styles that are mixed with an unforced abstractness and a sense of humor that is [pause] pretty much out-there.
