This song is hard to listen to... just as it was hard to write, and hard to sing... but it's the healing kind of hard. Please listen to it and share.

Story behind the song
This song was written (and performed, on Free Radio Asheville, which accounts for the poor sound quality) in 1998 as part of my recovery from being an abused child... and an abusive parent. Recovery is possible -- you'll believe me after hearing this song if you do not now.
Lyrics
All the Love in the World Mordewis ap Llys Janie was born into a family, everything always seemed gentle and fine As she grew, Daddy looked at her differently, and he looked at her all of the time They started to have little secrets, things he told her nobody else could ever know When Jane reached 14, she was pregnant, and everyone blamed Cousin Joe Marcus at 10 was found in an alley, broken up, nearly dead, bleeding and bruised They found him a new home, they dressed him up nice, and he watched his new mom be abused And he sometimes was happy, and sometimes he cried, and all the kids thought he was stupid or strange They told him he just wasn't normal like them, and kept waiting for him to change They needed all the love, all the love, All the love, all the love in the world Marcus and Janie could change in a flash from bright, sunny children to babies in tears The people around them would comment to how they seemed swallowed by dark, unknown fears And one day, they found Marc and the preacher in bed, and Janie lay limp in a tub full of red And, written in blood, in the hand of a child, "I love you, Dad" is what it said... They needed all the love, all the love, All the love, all the love in the world There are millions of blades finding tender young skin, millions of pills used to quiet the tears Millions of needles for dulling the pain, and their cries falling on deafened ears Millions of children are born into fear, while so very few are born into love Millions who were hurt go on to hurt others, the cycle just gets one more shove They needed all the love, all the love All the love, all the love in the world The fear stays with you, the pain does too, 'till you heal, or can't feel any more, or you die There's something that edges you over a brink, or something you just have to try And it isn't because you love them any less, or because you just think they can't love you at all, But mistakes get made, and the debts don't get paid, and you're nailing your soul to the wall And you need all the love, all the love All the love, all the love in the world Loneliness covers the world that you live in, and you just want to give up, but somehow you don't You try to find others and help them to love, just to find a kind word in their throat And then you remember, and just want to die, but you still know there's something you're hanging on for And you think if you help enough other souls heal, they won't see the blackness in yours And you need all the love, all the love, All the love, all the love in the world And I need all the love, all the love, All the love, all the love in the world... copyright 1998 by Mordewis ap Llys (Gerald L.
