Story behind the song
Well, me and my buddy Charles Portman were doing some jammin at the U of M, and we came up with this song after our "fan" who was outside smoking stepped over a chair to get to the door.
Lyrics
Saw that girl, tell me where
In the classroom, on the chair
Chin in her hand, played with her hair
I could do nothing else but stare
Pleased my eye, pleasant girth
Praised the land that gaver her birth
so nice to see and finely honed
what I wouldn't give to take her home
I care not how my life should fare
I'd give it all to be that chair
Supporting you so you don't fall
For you girl I'd give it all
Day on day, there you are
Ever close yet ever far
and I would settle if need be
to touch her through the upholstry
You walk bye, look so cute
I want to speak but I am mute
so when you go I must remain
Alone until you come again
I care not how my life should fare
I'd give it all to be that chair
Supporting you so you don't fall
For you girl I'd give it all
(instrumental)
See that girl, over there
Gently rising from the chair
look at her sway, walkin fine
If only I could make her mine
Break this boundry made of wood
then I can love you like I should
inanimate though I may seem
like furniture made from a tree
Saw that girl, tell me where
in the classroom on her chair
chin on her hand, played with her hair
I could do nothing else but stare
Saw that girl
In the classroom
chin on her hand
