Do It Yourself Alternative
Since receiving his first guitar at age 12 (a 1965 Silvertone) Ryan has been writing and playing music for his personal enjoyment for more than 30 years. After years of putting his music on assorted cassettes (and a 8 year layoff to take care of career and kids) Ryan put Pro Tools on an old computer in the back bedroom and began writing, playing and recording music again. It's a life-long hobby for him. Ryan plays guitar, bass and keyboards and uses a drum machine for the beats.

Story behind the song
I was playing the bass and hit this riff. I decided I was going to write a song around it. This turned into a song about the saints and devils that live inside all of us and how they do battle constantly as we move through our lives.
Lyrics
Stand and watch the sun come up The dolphins join the day In my face the wind kicks up I’m baptized by the spray. Just stick your toe in – and it will work out fine Today is what you’ve got today and you can make it shine. My acid tongue’s got me on the run, turning saints into devils. Like a burning sun, reports the gleaming gun, in my hand as it trembles. Traffic on the interstate The arteries of life Just to make you sit and wait And get drowned in the spray Just put the pedal down – and it will be alright Got to escape, got to run, get away from the grind This long highway rolls under me, like the tide that’s escaping. Rolling out to sea, moves away from me, it’s a promise worth breaking. I stretch my arms out wide And welcome the day In my face the wind kicks up Immerse me in the spray. Just stick your toe in – and it will work out fine Today is what you’ve got today and you can make it shine. Snaking up the tree, the vines wrap me, keep the fear inside me Try to capture me, overtaking me, push me through another day.
