Singer/songwriter, Indie self-recorded: Wm Perry writes & performs tight, well-crafted songs. Honest & not boring, sometimes disturbing, with jangled-y edges. T
"I approach the writing of songs as if it's the only tool I have, with which to do something I don't understand." BIOGRAPHY: Failed. Kept moving. Your typical starving artist story. BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, followed by several years in the Sign Industry. Front man in a multitude of short-lived bands, playing in clubs and warehouses in Chicago and LA's artsy, marginal war-zone neighborhoods. Now solo artist, self-recording. Bought a cheap, old house on Craig's List (without seeing it first!) and moved from Chicago to Cincinnati, an "economic refugee" you could say. Now completing renovations that make four floors of combined living/studio space and working on new music.

Catalog - William McGuffey Perry I saw you in a catalog (I saw you in a photograph) I saw in a dream I had (In a weapons catalog) About a catalog that never came (An underwater scene) To an address that turned out bad (With a falcon and a dog) And I wondered from time to time (What the weapon was) How to unlatch that book (But I give way to greed) And door falls open wide (I wanted it just because) And there’s the catalog inside And then as in a dream’s Most blurred, confusing scene Everything jerks and transforms And I’m stranded empty-handed and unharmed I saw you in a dream I had (In a cheap sh** parade) About some mistakes I had made (Like a marshal or a tsar) It came to the attention of the law (With some knock-off Gatorade) And that was the start of a parade (And kitchen Meth in mason jars) You came around the corner of a float (The boys in blue were all eyes) And what you said I don’t know (You were all over my map) But you made the kind of sense (The lawyers wrote inside) It goes like medicine’s supposed to go (Their raincoats in their laps) And I wandered front and back Unsure of the poison or its lack Shuffling systems and blame One false move before the law I saw it through your eyes Although I promised not to look I just had to see What my goose looked like cooked (In a cheap sh** parade) An underwater scene Like the frontispiece of a book Man and monstrous thing (Man and monstrous thing) Stood the day the earth still shook (Stood the day the earth still shook) (fade) Man and monstrous thing (Man and monstrous thing) Stood the day the earth still shook (Stood the day the earth still shook)
