I guess its a fairly simple ballad - a bit folksy, two guitars, mostly one voice and just a bit of harmony. I hope you like it.

Mike and I are an acoustic duo. We play covers including Radio Head, Kinks, Show of Hands, Beatles, Bowie and even an old Cilla Black - honest - its a good song though. We also do some of my songs.

Story behind the song
This is a song about Dungeness, a strangely quiet place with an eerie beauty, stuck back in time because of the nuclear power station. Strange peace comes out of fear. This is where Derick Jarman filmed "The Garden" My eldest son used to like to visit the lighthouses there when he was young. Jarman referred to it as The Fifth Quarter.
Lyrics
The Fifth Quarter the garden he once filmed still stands in pebbles on the beach a place where time stands still it seems and changes barely reach and in this lonely place there’s quiet and there’s peace and sculptures on the beach its not as if it matters much its just a place I go a place I know some love some hate some fear this place see a danger by the shore no wonder time forgot vibrations core to core yet in this lonely place there’s quiet and there’s peace and sculptures on the beach its not as if it matters much its just a place I go a place I know strange peace comes out of fear the rows of pylons march away from the centre of the cone between two lights are lifetimes spent in prefabricated homes and in this lonely place there’s solitude and peace and sculptures on the beach its not as if it matters much its just a place I go a place I know
