Do It Yourself Alternative
Since receiving his first guitar at age 12 (a 1965 Silvertone) Ryan has been writing and playing music for his personal enjoyment for more than 30 years. After years of putting his music on assorted cassettes (and a 8 year layoff to take care of career and kids) Ryan put Pro Tools on an old computer in the back bedroom and began writing, playing and recording music again. It's a life-long hobby for him. Ryan plays guitar, bass and keyboards and uses a drum machine for the beats.

Story behind the song
I was noodling around with a song called "A Legal Matter" by the Who and started playing what became the intro. The lyrics are the old lover lost and found story that's been told before. In the middle, I turned around one of my favorite Beatle chord progressions -- used in Help and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The end is just rock based on the A to D to A7 to D sequence with some guitar madness thrown in.
Lyrics
Playing on the docks of paradise Watching the parade go by Waiting for my lover to reappear Why did you leave, when you were so near? I read in the paper how they're tying to save all of the things from yesterday But, you can't recycle a love gone wrong And put it in the words of a song I can't really tell you how I feel When you blind me with your love appeal I'll live on the streets; I'll borrow and steal Just to get to your love appeal What you're doing to me is a capital crime Now you've got my heart doing time I'll take a chance; I'll spin the wheel In the district court of love appeal
