Story behind the song
This one draws parallels between the allotment movement which developed in Europe from the 19th century with the classic slogan of peasant revolutions everywhere: "land and liberty!" While I am generally opposed to the idea of private land-ownership, I think that it should be allowed on a strictly small scale, in order to satisfy the deep-seated need for a degree of privacy and independence. Ideally, every family should have it's own garden.
