There are (2) startling pieces of amazement that came across my thoughts today; First, the irony of the Arneson Bancroft Expedition meant to bring awareness to Global Warming on Artic Shelves was cut short because of frostbite. And second, one of my friends has their name on a national Psychological & Personality test database.
Last week, Kronos Incorporated officially acquired Unicru, a workplace solutions company, which implements personality and psychological testing in the hiring of prospective employees. If you’ve ever applied for a job at Target, Blockbuster, or Neiman Marcus, your name is in that Database. And if you’ve failed to get that job, forget about applying again.
The questions are clear and concise and to answer them wrong you’d have to be an idiot; or a genius. But definitely one of the two.
More than 11 million applicants are in that database and have had to Agree or Disagree with such statements as You Describe Yourself as Tidy? And You Are More Competitive than Polite? But the database holds much more than your psychosomatic predispositions. Like your social security number, your criminal history, your medical history, your credit score, and whether slow people irritate you.
But I have a few questions:
• How many clients do you have and who are they?
• How many participants are in the database?
• Is the database secure?
• Is the database secure from subpoena?
What started as my first job application has somehow turned into the ticket into a database depot waiting for the first pen pusher to realize I never paid that parking ticket; you know, the one that’s accrued a few G’s in late charges. But I’m sure the right people will do the right thing with my mental litmus. And we all know the Government doesn't abuse our privacy. They hire people to do that…
