Story behind the song
My personal reflections on three wonderful years spent at Summit School in the mid 40's were rekindled by Dr. Ken Ohm's wonderful, creative autobiography entitled "Spatzies and Brass BB's" published in 2004. Having spent my lifetime in education, I could not help comparing the classroom setting then and the factory-like setting, driven by education testing, in the public schools today, and the challenges teachers face as they are caught between demands by incompetent politicians setting educational requirements, and students who now come to the classroom with challenges of their own.
