Story behind the song
KVR's monthly music contest for March 2007 had the theme of 1970s progressive rock music. I'm not really into prog rock, but multiple sources I found listed Kraftwerk in that genre, so I tried to make something that sounds a bit like Kraftwerk. I hadn't actually listened to any of their music before, so I had to find some and listen for a while to get an idea of what I should be doing.
