In the music realm, I am known as SmittyG. Nope, that is not my "rap" name; it's from my time in the Navy. I played drums in school and dabbled on guitar a little bit but, at 17, I discovered the bass and have never looked back.
In 2003, I finally joined my first performing band, Deacon Dark. We play blues and blues rock. In 2006, I joined with the rock band Sonic Rust. Our music covers a range of classic to modern rock with some other styles tossed in as the mood strikes us. Finally, at the end of 2006, I became part of the Monday night blues jam host band at Doyle's Place in Texarkana.
While you might think all of that would keep me pretty busy, none of those groups are heavy into the original music side of things--especially not the stuff I've been coming up with lately. So, I started the Narada Weeps project for me to write and record my music. I'm no bass virtuoso; I don't even solo that well. But, if I do say so myself, I come up with some interesting grooves and think, with a little multi-track magic and some creativity, I can turn those grooves into interesting tunes. If I am lucky, every now and then, I just might find some like-minded musicians to join in on the fun.
Check out my tracks and the stuff I tend to rant about in my blogs and, if you are so inclined, leave a comment and join in the fun.
