Hi there! I'm a songwriter of country songs. Though some of my stuff barely fits the general perception of that label.

Story behind the song
A friend of mine looked about to make it to the bigtime.... So I wrote him this song to congratulate him and remind him of his friends among the great herd of unknown artists out there. "Contractual obligations" interefered and he never did get that number one and is now back on the circuit again. But he deserves to make it big... don't we all?
Lyrics
At last old friend you made it, `Cross the country they're playing your new song, I hope you enjoy the exposure, And if fame's what you want, May she stay with you long. I don't have to remind you, That you've chosen a real rocky road. But I will say I'll be standing beside you, On the day that the bubble explodes. So enjoy your time in the headlines, She's a real fickle friend is fame. She'll walk out on you without warning, Or burn you up - like a moth that flew Too near the candle flame. For years you scratched a living, At the country fairs and in bars, Now you're on all of the chat shows, And the radio plays you along with the stars. I hope you'll always remember, Now you're a winner in life's game, The friends who helped you climb up the ladder, When nobody knew your name. CHORUS I hope the new life you're living, Will be all you hoped it would be, For sometimes its harder to win than lose And stay in touch with reality. I hope it will not offend you If I offer you some advice, Keep your eyes peeled every moment, For that snake in paradise.
