Story behind the song
I wrote this song during a thunderstorm...after a horrible argument (with my then-fiance) that ended our relationship...
Lyrics
I’m standing in the solitude of the rain Wishing that the water takes away the blame Feeling cold where the hurt remains And all I see is you I don’t know what it took for me to break your heart What did I do wrong to make us fall apart? My words reach out to me, asking from the heart I try to find the answers ‘cause I need to know why CHORUS: ‘Cause you loved me once before Can I mend the heart I tore? Can you let your love come down on me again? Can you give me one last chance So we could find our lost romance? Can you let your love come down on me again? And now I have to face a new reality As thunder rolls around me constantly The wind echoes the sound of my voice calling out your name One thought controls my mind, will we ever be the same? (REPEAT CHORUS) BRIDGE: As I see the lightning flash Our true forever was gone so fast In one moment of time Now I find that I can’t let you go Let you go (REPEAT CHORUS)
