I've been wanting to hear some real ROCK done a Hammond again! The basic goal was to do the tune with Hammond ONLY - no bass, no guitar. But, as I got into it I started hearing a MiniMoog bass line and then the M-Tron software came out so I HAD to add a little Mellotron for flavor. You've GOTTA love retro!
I had already recorded the sound of the Hammond starting up - hence the name "Start Run". Anyone familiar with a Hammond knows that this is the sequence for starting up the ol' Beast.
I used a 1945 CV through two Leslie 122's primarily. The first solo was done on a 1963 D-152 through a Leslie 760. The bridge melody line was done on a Roland VK-8 (WannaB) through the Leslie 760. The swoops were done on the D-152 run straight through an old Silvertone tube amp.
