Story behind the song
Growing up in Oklahoma, our house was less than a quarter mile from the railroad tracks. My Dad would always check his watch when we heard the train whistle as it approached the road crossing. Dad had worked for the railroad at one time and I guess it was just habit. At night, especially in the summer, trying to sleep, windows open hoping for a breeze, you could hear oil wells pumping off in the distance. In those days, they were combustion engings. They've been converted to electric now, at least the ones that are still operational. Out of 6, I am the one sibling that has not lived close, or even in Oklahoma for a number of years. This song was written for my Mom as I prepare to return to God's country and to my family.
