Story behind the song
VELVET ROSES - From Vancouver, WA, this mother-daughter team is going places! KIMBERLY (mother) & 9 yr. old MANDl HALL (daughter) started singing together professionally in 1996. Starting at age 7, Kimberly sang every where she could, church, school, etc. and toured with a band after high school. She met Judy Welden in the fall of ‘93 when she was in Nashville as a song she had recorded, LIFE FOR THE CRIME (written by JIM PANTAZI) was up for an award. Judy was impressed and promoted her HARD HABIT TO BREAK (also written by Jim Pantazi), which stayed on the overseas charts for 2 years! I WANT TO BELONG, co-written by GUY LEROUX and the late ROBERT DEGRAFF (Ontario, Canada), and HARRY ECKERT of New York, seems made to order for VELVET ROSES. Judy Welden has worked with the prolific co--writers for years, and Guy (the writer contact for this song) hopes to release other songs in the future. We surely hope so and also hope this song does as well as expected.
