A cheerful song about living in the Holland Park area of London in the early 70s. One of my early works from a time of youthful optimism.

Hi folks. I have added a lot of videos recently. Please take a look!
Hi folks, This site acts as a personal archive of my work. So you'll find my best recordings here as well as some pretty crappy ones. The earliest recordings here were made on simple cassette decks, others were made on mobile phones, some are live recordings made at various gigs over the years, a handful were made in small recording studios, but most of the more recent ones were made at home on a Zoom portable studio, which itself is now rather ancient! If you like a song and want to download it, click on 'Full song info' for that song and you will see the download link. You can also read the lyrics and any background information on the songs that I may have added. All my music is available for free - enjoy :) cheers, Charles

Story behind the song
This is another song from an old cassette recorded in my Shepherd's Bush apartment - 51 Addison Gardens - all those years ago in 1973. That long-haired person with a moustache in the pic is me around this time. I'm doing my best one-man-band thing here playing guitar and harmonica at the same time :)
Lyrics
Strolling in Holland Park gardens Saw a boy sitting in a sales booth Selling the world's best orange juice For me and you Well it's a hot hot day with nothing to do So if you're going to have one cup I'll have one too - and how about you? Wandering down Portobello I saw a man standing by a litter bin Playing the world's best mandolin For me and you Well it's a hot hot day with nothing to do So if you're going to sit down here I'll sit down too - and how about you? Every day is a holiday If you want it to feel that way I'm having fun just sitting in the sun Hearing the music play Every day is a holiday If you want it to feel that way I got it made just sitting in the shade Watching the children play I'll let you in on a little secret And believe me it's a fact The world is like a great big mirror If you smile it smiles right back Now it's a hot hot day with nothing to do So if you're going to sit down here I'll sit down too - and how about you? Yeah - how about you? Oh - how about you?
