The DWOMS formed in 1980 from the pale, smouldering ashes of almost legendary Oxford beat combo 'Kites A-Z' then disbanded in 1981. The songs on this Soundclick site were salvaged from a cobweb and custard covered cassette tape of the DWOMS recorded live at the Press Ball at Blades in Botley, Oxford, 1981. Malcolm Edwards: Vocals Mick Clack: Guitar, vocals Dave Bowmer: Guitar, vocals Bob Hundley: Bass, vocals Perry Smith: Drums

Story behind the song
The DWOMS once saw a bloke who had a tattoo of his own face ON his face...the funny thing was, it was slightly larger than actual size.
Lyrics
Tattoo of love upon my left hand On my right hand tattoo hate Carve your history on my forehead Put me at the factory gate Make the rules before I've started Change them day by day Looking lost and brokenhearted Queue me up for judgement Day I'm waiting at the door Judge silent Frozen motion His mind is on the court No mercy but bags of emotion Bags of emotion Too late I mised the boat Too late I'm going under Too late I missed the boat Too late I'm going down Put me in the competition Tell me that I'm in the race Cross my eyes with education Cross my path And I'll smash your face On my chest you'll find an eagle In a battle with a snake On my right arm there's a dagger Through a heart that just got to break I'm waiting at the door Judge silent Frozen motion His mind is on the court No mercy but bags of emotion Bags of emotion Bags of emotion Too late I mised the boat Too late I'm going under Too late I missed the boat Too late I'm going down

Recorded well over 20 years ago this live version of the Malcolm Edwards/Mick Clack composition 'Too Late' is a welcome reminder of what a great band the Dwoms were. I can remember seeing them play many times at the old Caribbean Club in St Ebbes, Oxford in the 1980's- a can of Red Stripe in my hand and a drunken smile on my face -as I danced to such timeless Dwoms classics as 'Falling Out Of An Aeroplane', 'The Station', 'Blood Runs Cold' and 'Johnny and the Dancer'. Granted, the audio quality of this old cassette recording leaves a lot to be desired - but the spirit, passion and energy which is lacking in so much of today's music is clearly evident in Perry Smith's solid percussion, Bob Hundley's bubbling bass, Dave Bowmer and Mick Clack's chattering Stratocasters and Malcolm Edwards' strident vocal chord vibrations. Let's have a Dwoms reunion in 2010 lads! Rooftop Ron and the rest of the world is waiting...
