So the NEW YEAR is upon us and the events of yesteryear are only but a memory…or a nightmare, I forget which.
AP Press has voted HURRICANE KATRINA the #1 Story of the Year… not really a story, really. I mean 1.3 million disenfranchised residents displaced, nearly 5000 relocated to the Houston Astrodome. But as Barbara Bush says here, they’re really better off…

Nearly 4 months after Hurricane Katrina, there are STILL more than 1 million un-inhabitable living quarters in the affected Gulf Coast areas. But at least Bush is on their side, signing an 8 billion dollar tax-incentive package.

But who ARE the beneficiaries of this 8 billion dollars?
I’ll give you one guess and the first name starts with Haliburton. Yep, the same Haliburton that overcharged us more than 1 Billion dollars according to the Project on Govt oversight.
But let’s not harp on Katrina, I mean, really, if this had happened in Nantucket? It’d be the same…only instead of the Houston Astrodome, it might be Camp David…aaaand instead of 1 million homeless heretics, it’d be a million new Cape Cod’s. same thing.
C’mon, at least the Casinos are up and running again!
I guess they figure if there are no stores open, and you couldn’t buy electricity even if you want to, then let’s give them something to piss their money away on…
