This is a song from Uplift Mountain that I wrote an accompaniment for at the request of one of my friends. *sigh* If only *I* could actually play it...

An aspiring composer, Marie Baringer completed her Master's degree in Music Composition in 2008, which finished up with an internship at a well-known film composer's studio in L.A. She received the 2008 ASCAP Henry Mancini Scholarship to help fund the final semester. Her work is refined and spirited, and you will enjoy listening to it. Although mainly a vocalist, Marie plays trumpet as a hobby. However, her ambitions, although once directed towards the stage, are aimed towards composing music for the silver screen. She began seriously composing during the summer of 2004 when she was asked to create the musical score for her family's short film "The Patriot Deception," which was selected as a finalist at the 2005 Telly Awards for Use of Music. Since then, she has composed several additional pieces in her spare time that she hopes to get published someday. Join us as we interview this talented young lady...

Story behind the song
As the title suggests, the lyrics are from Isaiah 43. The first and verse and the chorus were from Uplift, but when I was writing the accompaniment, I decided I wanted to do a second verse, but I didn't want to just repeat the same words, so I went to Isaiah 43 and wrote a second verse. I was babysitting three of my little cousins--9 months, 2 years, and 4 years--when I was creating the MIDI soundtrack for this piece, hoping to be able to record when I got back home at the end of the two weeks. I sang this song to the 9-month old dozens of times while trying to put him down for a nap or the night.
Lyrics
When you pass through the waters, I'll be with you; When you pass through the rivers, They will not sweep over you; When you walk through the fire, you won't be burned. The flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, Your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. Fear not, I have redeemed you, I have summond you by name: You are mine, you are mine. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Dwell not on that which is past, for I make a new thing now. I provide you with water in deserts dry And give drink to those I've formed for myself. For I am the Lord, Your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. Fear not, I have redeemed you, I have summond you by name: You are mine, you are mine. You are mine, you are mine.
