Lyrics
If Only For One
Written by: Rocky Thomas
How I can I repay you, I cry when I think of how they slayed you,
They tried to persuade you, in the end they all betrayed you,
You endured such pain no human has ever known,
And throughout time no greater love was ever shown,
A tear falls down my cheek as I get weak and I can't speak,
The disciples fell asleep as the blood and sweat began to seep,
While you were praying in the garden of Gethsemane,
You said take this cup from me, but if not then let it be,
Cause you knew the work that had to be done,
If I was the only one here you still would have come, if only for one.
If only for one, you still would have come,
And given your life, as a sacrifice,
If only for one, you still would have come,
And died for me, I still would be free
They took you and flogged you so that I could be forgiven,
Every disease was accounted for by every lash that was given,
The thought of it is indescribable, strongly unadvisable,
As far as being human you weren't even recognizable,
All that before they put you on the cross to be exposed with no clothes,
They spit in your face, nevertheless you showed them grace,
They tried to give you a pain killer but you refused,
And the sign above your head read this is the king of the jews,
Crown of thorns, hands and feet nailed to the boards,
And a spear through your side, just to see if you had died,
It is finished, Father forgive them, thy kingdom come and thy will done,
You still would have come, if only for what, if only for one.
There's one more important factor that I have yet to mention,
Death, burial, resurrection, and of course ascension,
The thunder rolled, and so did that stone,
Guards found your grave clothes, but your body was gone,
You appeared to the disciples and gave them power from above,
Heal the sick, cast out devils, walking humbly and in love,
Made the world believe when they saw the empty tomb,
Made doubting Thomas believe when he put his hands in your wounds,
Made me believe when I read John 3:16,
Every knee gonna bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is King,
And then you had to go so the Spirit could come,
And if it had to be redone, you still would come, if only for one.
