You know the first thing that’s on my mind

Are not what you listen to
Maybe if we looked at the world differently
We’d understand not everybody wants to be free
Some people want to be protected
Some people want to be rejected
Some people want to serve a higher cause
Others go around breaking laws
Freedom is in the eye of the beholder
Free to die young or free to grow older
Maybe if we looked at the world differently
We could see not everybody wants to be free
And if we looked at the world from upside down
We’d see there was another way that things go round
Not everybody wants to be free
At least not like you and me
If you don’t have enough to eat
Do you think you really care about being free
Free for what?
Free to choose
Free to lose
Free to be put in prison
For what you believe in
Free to be a martyr
Maybe freedom doesn’t work here
Freedom has it’s boundaries
And that is the opposite of being free
Not everybody wants to be
Maybe if we looked at the world differently
We could see not everybody wants to be free
And if we looked at the world from upside down
We’d see there was another way that things go round
Not everyone wants to be free
If freedom means like you and me
Freedom is not an excuse
For war or abuse
Free is not a magic word
It’s not the most beautiful word I’ve heard
Not everyone wants to be free
At least not like you and me
