Story behind the song
I actually got into an argument with a couple of people who really think Jay-Z got murdered by Eminem on this song... yeah... rambling on about self-indulged jibberish is really "murdering" a hip hop legend. Anyways... this is my take on a lot of shit. Holla.
Lyrics
Sourin' pop culture, in hours I watch vultures... Prey to eliminate the generation Pac brought us
So many lost offers, where many men cop quarters / Poor people got orders, the president locks borders
We cannot afford to lose the ground we've gained / You dudes sound the same, just pass around the blame
My name don't even matter, identified as a criminal / If I was white I'd probably be penalized by the minimum
Nigger becomes a synonym, seein' no similarities / To hell wit welfare, you cretin's can keep ya charity
These demons aint inherit me, yet they view me as a burden / We servin', in these so-called ghetto subsitutions for urban
I'm splurgin' money for shit I admit, I don't really need / Wounds open to bleed, feel it heal wit the coke and the weed
They hopin' we leave, but we ain't got nowhere to go / I take that back, ya'll the ones who made us get on the boat
Now that we know wat the problem is, we should start solvin' it / The revolution is comin', dummies just keep stallin' it
Arguin's just a part of it, strangers invade the parliament / Dangerous foreigners, wait until they claim that they thought of it
Solution's an illusion, a problematic creation / Sorta like the U.S. yet there you have you a nation
Wit patience for segregation, hooded & painted faces / It shouldn't be that evasive, how could you remain a racist
While conversatin' amongst eachother in harmony / Heathens pledgin' allegiance, even swearin' it solemnly
I swear it's a knot in me, that grows tighter and tighter / As I sit in the dark, I notice the light gettin' brighter
Given the pride of a fighter, and the heart of a lion / Spittin' for dollar bills but for real, the art of it's dyin'
Too often I'm tryin', till I'm cryin', battered & oozin' / A saddened conclusion, but I'd rather have that then me losin'
I had to be doin' good, but my hood ain't lookin' for fuckin' crumbs / Take us out the jungle, then put us into another one
For the funds, they stackin packs and slang crack / But matter of fact they get high, then the pains back
I remain blacker than black and pissed at a lotta shit / Not contempt but convinced, fuck the plans they do not attempt
How you get a vision so twisted it's no longer visible / Till we point and ridicule, cuz damnt it's pitiful
[HOOK] x2
I'm A Renegade....
In every single sense of the word... If you ain't heard, fuck a Life-Time I'm livin' my third
Nigga's scurred, but why if you live & you learn
This is my turn, So I'm finna blaze... Source Is A Renegade
[HOOK]
These cowards in power, just watch how watered they mouths get / Fuck a founding father, some father's aint been found yet
I'm bout that paper, hater's pray that my hood die / Why should I, not believe Scarface was the good guy
An american dream, as unacheivable as it seems / Evil is how we're deemed, when we just after the cream
I scream and let it out, cuz silence is not gold / My block snows wether or not it just got cold
I'm foldin' my hands quick, over both of my damn wrists / This land is, broken in places we can't fix
And the kids stay growin' up, followin' after follower's / Nevermind wat the problem was, it's beginnin' to swallow us
The hollows is hot-headed, it's true as if God said it / We got fed it, so how in the fuck do we not credit
The same muhfuckers who allow us to do it / It ain't gangsta nothin', cousin' it's powerful music
I choose to do what I do when given a choice / I know that most of you would do it too if you had a voice
So I hoist and I holler, a rebel without a cause / Plenty of flaws, never silent till they rip out my jaws
Pause... For thugs in packs, and the slugs in gats / Which do you support, the war on drugs, or the war in Iraq
But the crack been banned, and I'll be damned till they lift it / It's wrong for us to use it but the President sniffs it
I'm sittin' in the inner-city, I know what I'm talkin bout / Folks, Moe's, & Kings Yeah I know wat I'm walkin' round
Until the
