Story behind the song
Bill the Monk was on recess from seminary school. He had this song o’ joy he wanted to get to tape before he returned to chanting. We adjourned to the makeshift studio in the attic. We had guitar and bass, but the drums were out for repair. What to do? Enter Pafoofnik the cat. He always had good tone. He volunteered to be a drum. Rest assured he enjoyed it. You can hear the purrrrring. Later he was paid in wine, as was Bill the Monk.
Lyrics
Music is around us everywhere you go We all singing, dancing round all Young fast and old slow You can feel the rhythm all around Come out here and join us, move yourself around Don’t need fancy dancing shoes Just tip toe on the ground You can feel the rhythm… You don’t have to smile or sing along Ain’t no way we’ll judge you right or wrong (sacred grunts and purring) You just feel the rhythm…. Music is your best friend, never leave you cold Be there when you’re in the crib Be there when you’re sixty years old You can feel the rhythm….
