A combination of artists like Peter Gabriel, Sting, Steely Dan, Marillion, John Mayer, etc., that creates a sound uniquely Simon Apple.
Two Philadelphia area musicians, Buzz Saylor and Jeff Miller, formed Simon Apple with the intentions of writing material that combined their favorite elements of pop, progressive rock, and jazz, coupled with positive, hopeful, thought-provoking, even sometimes humorous messages. Imagine a cross of Peter Gabriel, Sting, Steely Dan, Marillion, John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Genesis, Kevin Gilbert, Pat Metheny Group, Supertramp, Bruce Hornsby. If those artists do nothing for you, then you will likely hate Simon Apple's music as well! (Where's the love?). The 2004 release, 'River To The Sea', features several Grammy-winning and multi-platinum guest artists including: Bassist Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, John Lennon, Pink Floyd), guitarist Buck Dharma (Blue Oyster Cult), saxophonist John Helliwell (Supertramp), cellist Hugh McDowell (Electric Light Orchestra), bassist Steve Rodby (Pat Metheny Group), and trumpeter Dave Stahl (Buddy Rich, Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr.).

Lyrics
Somebody will be there when your world’s about to fall. Somebody will be there with the answer to your call. Somebody will be there when you’re slipping off the track. When the weight of the world bears down on you somebody will be there to lift it off of your back. There’s a lot of hope left in this world. Somebody will be there when you’re drowning on dry land. Somebody will be there when you surely need a hand. Somebody will be there when you think nobody cares. And when you’re low on hope and you just can’t cope, somebody will be there to answer one of your prayers. There’s a lot of hope left in this world. The troubles you have felt before within your world I know are great. But someone’s opened a friendly door with a hand of fate. Somebody will be there when your faith is running out. When you’re low on luck down to your last buck somebody will be there because that’s what life is about. There’s a lot of hope left in this world.
