Story behind the song
Rat Bite was dubbed the "Country Pavement Song" for months when only the chorus melodies existed and it was being played on an acoustic guitar. We thought it sounded like a Pavement song. Eventually it all came together though into quite an original song about rat bites. We've never been bitten by a rat, but we're sure it's bad. John does go to India quite often and has told us stories about giant rats. They did piss on his shirt, though the pigs ate the rats, not the other way 'round in the song.
