Story behind the song

The lyric "with a burnt toothpick, they scrape the sty" is from when I was a kid. The father of my sister's boyfriend was a doctor who had fallen on hard times. I had developed a sty inside my eyelid and my parents had fallen on hard times as well, so they traded him our broken TV (he liked to tinker) to fix my eye. He came over to our apartment one day and took a toothpick, burnt it to sterilize it it, and used that to scrape it off.
