Hi folks. I have added a lot of videos recently. Please take a look!
Hi folks, This site acts as a personal archive of my work. So you'll find my best recordings here as well as some pretty crappy ones. The earliest recordings here were made on simple cassette decks, others were made on mobile phones, some are live recordings made at various gigs over the years, a handful were made in small recording studios, but most of the more recent ones were made at home on a Zoom portable studio, which itself is now rather ancient! If you like a song and want to download it, click on 'Full song info' for that song and you will see the download link. You can also read the lyrics and any background information on the songs that I may have added. All my music is available for free - enjoy :) cheers, Charles

Story behind the song
At the time I wrote this song I was living in Mendocino county, California. From time to time government helicopters flew overhead searching for illegal marijuana plantations - on search and destroy missions. There was lot of marijuana grown in the county - and still is I guess. It was a major source of income for the local economy. I imagined it was a little how the Sandinistas felt in Nicaragua as US helicopters searched for their camps to destroy them. So I asked 'Are we in Nicaragua?' I saw the US government invading people's private lives everywhere - so the answer was 'Everyone is!' In Mendocino a large number of people were against US policy - both on marijuana and Nicaragua - and were effectively rebels - teaching their children to break the law. I sing, John Bush plays bass, Chris Diurni plays lead guitar, Lewis Demetri programmed the drum machine and produced, Bonnie Kirkpatrick plays the keyboards.
Lyrics
Here we have no answers It isn't like it used to be Half of us are farmers And everyone is family Are we in Nicaragua? Everyone is! Is this a revolution? If you want it! Are helicopters here to stay? Night and day! What did we teach our children? Break the law! Here comes a politician With a proposition Leading to prohibition As advised by his physician Waiting for the earthquake We like to live in luxury The news just make our headache So all we watch is MTV Are we in Nicaragua? Everyone is! Is this a revolution? If you want it! Are helicopters here to stay? Night and day! What did we teach our children? Break the law! Here comes some information For your meditation A little revelation About a covert operation! Are we in Nicaragua? Everyone is! Is this a revolution? If you want it! Are helicopters here to stay? Night and day! What did we teach our children? Break the law!
