Story behind the song
Walking in the woods behind my house one day, I saw an interesting ravine to explore. In the process of running down it, it occurred to me that "Run Down the Gully) sounded like a good name for a song.
Lyrics
“Run Down the Gully” Capers Simmons VERSE I I know you’re going off to the great big city Gonna find your dream someday Gonna find out dreams aren’t all they seem to be But I have no need to search for I have found my dream in you And I will wait until you see it, too CHORUS I Run down the gully, past Aidan’s field And you will find me; I’ll love you still Bring me some moonlight locked in your hair Run down the gully; I’m waiting there. VERSE II I don’t blame you – find your fame You’ll win all you deserve But try you might you won’t find a better love Maybe someday you’ll find your way Come back home to me Once you seen all there is to see ~ CHORUS I 2x ~ CHORUS II Run down the gully and don’t look back Will you remember me? That’s all I ask Bring me a melody trapped in your eyes Run down the gully. Don’t say goodbye Run down the gully – just say goodnight.
