Original Music in Popular Styles Written from a Christian Perspective
Did you know that Carter is the 42nd most popular last name in the U.S.? Or that Robert is the 3rd most popular 1st name?!?!?!?!? Well I asure you that if you are looking for a guy that loves Jesus, writes music to worship and glorify the Father Son and Holy Spirit AND writes...4th and 5th grade band music...? I'M your man!!! These days I have mostly been doing occassional solo gigs as I court the lovely and talented Mindy Schott (my girlfriend of 6 months.) I do orriginal contemporary worship and pop rock orriginals from a Christian perspective. There's just enough humor, sincerity, and vulnerability to keep the audience attentive as I share my Christian experience in an attempt to meet people where they are and bring them closer to God. With the band, we do a lot of "secular" rock covers with a Christ centered focus. That way, people are bound to hear the songs again and have the seed watered.

Story behind the song
One of the schools I teach in (Main Street School in Terryville,CT) has a metting for the whole school on the last school day of every month called "Town Meeting". One class is responsible for doing a presentation each month. Julie Cruess (now Simonsen) asked me to help her class with their presentation. I wrote this song. I have since pitched it to Character Counts in LA (which reminds me, I need to get back to them!)
Lyrics
Character Counts „¦ 2003 Rob Carter Chorus Character counts More than you know So show an ounce to your fellow Citizens of the world Character counts, as you heard, we¡¦re on a mission Gonna shout out some words and definitions Gonna do it right now Gonna tell ya how ya wanna be If you wanna be free See, cuz part of livin¡¦ free comes from how we treat each other We are bound to be good to our sisters and brothers. R-E-S-P-E and C-T You heard it from Aretha now you hear it from me See respect is kinda cyclical; we all need it It¡¦s kinda treatin¡¦ people the way you wanta be treated And it¡¦s gotta be genuine; ya can¡¦t fake it! The more thatcha be dishin out The more thatcha take it And now RESPONSIBILITY If it¡¦s yours, you might as well take it Like doin¡¦ yer chores and ya homework Before somebody be buggin¡¦ ya And if you let ¡¥em pile up, day be sluggin¡¦ ya And buildin¡¦ up aroung ya, so take it from me Gotta keep on keepin¡¦ up wit resposibilities KINDNESS and CARING Gotta give it out and don¡¦t be sparing If see someone who is despairing, stop staring, be daring, start sharing and bearing the burdens of your buddy, it might get muddy Who knows you might save a life by loving somebody CITIZENSHIP In the community You can never claim Diplomatic immunity ¡¥Cause everyone¡¦s a citizen of this planet So do what you ought and do not take anything for granted Bridge Cuz in this whole wide world Everyone has a purpose Sometimes it gets real hard Bringin¡¦ it to the surface The character that¡¦s inside of you; whether it¡¦s good or no Doin¡¦ each day what you should do helps it to grow (spoken:which is good cuz¡K) Can you be TRUSTed? I hope so cuz if notcha get busted Ya feel betta when ya stickin¡¦ to da truth You want a little proof Lies beget lies beget trouble, piled to da roof And try to be FAIR, No cuttin¡¦ corners, Try to keep it square So everybody gets the same amount o¡¦ rights Nobody gets in fights When everybody gets the same, That¡¦s the name o¡¦ da game That way will always work best; it¡¦s never gonna change!
