Story behind the song
It's silly really... on my way home from a rather tough day at work one Friday, I thought to myself, "I can't wait to get home and out of my business clothes and into one of my husband's oversized workshirts." After that, I knew I had to write something along those lines. My buddy and collaborator, Chuck Crowe, said it struck a personal chord with him and agreed to do the wonderful music for it.

Postscripts Cindy Miller/Chuck Crowe © 2002 VERSE She still puts on his work shirt With an old pair of jeans The sleeves go way past her hands But no one ever sees She bought a bottle of his cologne And sprays it lightly in the air Though no one’s there to wear it He still lingers everywhere CHORUS Postscripts of a love gone by Souvenirs from a happier time He may be gone, but still survives In Postscripts of a love gone by VERSE He still carries her photograph Everywhere he goes Time has surely changed her some But he has no way to know Sometimes he listens to Haggard And tries to sing along He never cared for country much But it was her favorite song CHORUS Postscripts of a love gone by Souvenirs from a happier time She may be gone, but still survives In Postscripts of a love gone by BRIDGE As she daydreams in his work shirt And he studies her photograph Selective memories take over All alone, they both laugh (at) CHORUS Postscripts of a love gone by Souvenirs from a happier time Love may be gone, but still survives In Postscripts of a love gone by
