Imperfect Praise

A song about the feeble offerings we bring to our great and gracious God
Simple songs that I hope will touch the heart of God, and maybe a few other people in the process.
I may never make it to Nashville, and I may never be on the radio, but that's okay. That's not why I do what I do. I do what I do because I understand things best when I get them down in rhyming lines set to music. I do what I do because I believe that my Heavenly Father enjoys the songs that few hear just as much as He enjoys the songs that everyone hears. I do what I do because it's one of the best ways I know how to worship God, encourage friends, and uplift the body of Christ.

Story behind the song
Every time I play my guitar, especially in front of other people, I always mess up somehow. Yet this is the best I have to offer God--my flawed worship. But He joyfully accepts even our most imperfect praise.
Lyrics
I always miss a word or two Never turns out quite right I stumble, slip, tumble and trip And yet I set my sights On lifting up Your name Lord, accept these simple gifts Every word and every phrase All I have and all I give Is this imperfect praise This imperfect praise I want to bring an offering But I have nothing true Disbelief, shame, my grief and pain Nothing worthy of You Still I kneel at Your feet Lord, accept these simple gifts Every word and every phrase All I have and all I give Is this imperfect praise This imperfect praise But I know one day I'll be singing "You are worthy" to the Lamb And I know one day I'll be holy In Your presence I will stand But for now... Lord, accept these simple gifts Every word and every phrase All I have and all I give Is this imperfect praise This imperfect praise
