Story behind the song
Standing outside of a smoke free Cosmic Charlie's tavern, under crescent moon, puffing on cigarrettes between sets, it hit me that my buddy Bensley always wears these red running shoes. So I says to 'em, "Gee..Bensley, you'd probably look damn good in a fine pair of boots and even a hat. He says "No Way" I replied, "It may take some time, but there is just the right hat and boots for just the right man. In fact there's probably just the right woman too" With that, Bensley has remained true to his red runners, hatless and single. Proud to say that Bensley has played on all cuts posted here. Check out some of his great guitar solo work (and his red shooes) at http://www.stellarshowcase.durham.on.ca/glenbensley.html
Lyrics
Tucson, Stetson, Silverado Serengettie, Outback, maybe an El Paso A brim to tip the ladies, and blocking out sun and rain There’s just the right hat, for just the right man Nothing like the feeling, of slipping on a custom pair And my old Tennessee Walkers, will always get me there For two steppin or high riding or just plain kicking up roots There ain’t nothing quite like, a good old good pair of boots Hats and boots and women, the goods ones last for forever It’s always hard to take, if you give up on each other You’ve got to take your time, for just the right your brand Hat and boots and women, there’s a right one for every man A man can get a little tough, through years of wear and weather But every man will give thought, soon to something tender He see it her eyes, feel it in her lily hands For every right good woman, there’s a right good man Hats and boots and women, there’s one for every man no doubt You know just what I mean, if you’ve ever worn one out Be sure to dust and polish, and give some tenderness to hold It’s the comfort that your reach for, long after you’ve grown old Tucson, Stetson or a Silverado, ....Serengettie, Outback, I’ll take an El Paso…… Jacques Goudreault September 2001
