Thanks for stopping by. I'm not really looking for a record deal or anything like that. I think it would be great if someone liked my songs enough to record one though. Music has been a huge part of my life for as longs as I can remember. I just started writing songs in the fall of 2003. It got started after reading the rules to be a contestant on Nashville Star. It said that you have to have at least one original song that you have written or co-written. At the time I hadn't written a single song. Then one night the song " Too Much, Too Little, Too Late" just started coming to me and within 2 hours, I had my first song. All the songs I've written took 2 hours or less. If anyone has tips or pointers on my songwriting, feel free to leave me a message. All comments will be appreciated.

Story behind the song
My EX called me after being apart for 1 year and wanted to work things out and maybe get back together. These were the words I said to her.
Lyrics
Too Much Too Little Too Late (verse 1) I was only six years old when he became my dad, but the understanding of that word was something that he never had, he never took the time to do the things I thought he should, I spent most of my childhood years wishing that he would, there were lessons in life that I needed to learn I could have used some fatherly advice but he never offered and I didn’t ask, chaulk it up to stubborn pride, when he decided that he wanted to make amends it was time for me to graduate. I just shook his hand and said, "its too much too little to late." (chorus) Too much times gone by without you being there. Too little were the feelings that showed that you didn’t care. Its too late, I moved on and you just can’t clean the slate all that you’re wanting comes too much too little too late (verse 2) After two years together I finally gave her all my heart. She swore to me and the Lord til death do us part I had to work six days to make ends meet. I was hardly ever home she said, "this doesn’t feel much like a marriage when I’m always here alone." Then she told me she was leaving and nothing could change her mind. I’ve never been one for pleading I knew I’d be okay in time. Then one year later she called and said I’ve made a big mistake I said the first thing that came to me its too much too little too late (repeat chorus) (bridge) I’ve made mistakes in my life these things I can’t erase. When my time for judgment comes I hope the Lord won’t say (repeat chorus) Written By: Hugh McILwraith 12/15/03
