Story behind the song
So this one is actually only 8 bars long, but I've played with the parts by adding and subtracting to make interesting combinations.
First up you'll hear the percussion for 8 bars. It's a loop from Apple.
The next 8 bars is the bass. I've played it. It's my Epiphone bass.
Then the fingerstyle guitar comes in for the next 8 bars. This part is actually from Sip De Rum, which I wrote at least a decade and a half ago. This is my Washburn HB-15 with delay, vibrato pedal, and overdrive, which gives it warbly vinyl record sound.
Next up is the melody guitar. Same guitar with different effects: a phaser and some overdrive and delay. This goes on for 16 bars.
And then the harmony guitar. Same guitar as the melody guitar. This is the first time that all the parts appear together, and then they repeat.
After that parts are subtracted and added and recombined in all sorts of ways. It's kinda of how producers make songs.
So five instrumental parts (perc, bass, fingerstyle guitar, melody gtr, harmony gtr) and just 8 bars can become a song that is almost five minutes long. 8 bars long at 90bpm is about 21 seconds long. Repeat 8 bars long enough and it's almost 5 minutes.
