Note about the "2025/2026 Remixes." Since I don't currently have the resources to book studio time or musicians, I am polishing my old demos in Suno. I'm doing my best to keep Suno from making alterations to my compositions, and succeeding about two thirds of the time, but it is an uphill battle. For the sake of transparency, I am making an effort to delineate all of the (usually very slight) alterations Suno has made to the recordings, but it will take a while. In the meantime, once you've heard a "remix" to hear how I want the song to sound, you may want to scroll down to the original demo, which, in a few cases, will be a better representation of how the song _goes_. Until I've finished those notes, I can tell you that everything except "Celestial Street" (which goes off the rails at about the 3:30 mark) is close to identical to my original compositions, with tiny changes in chord voicings (i.e. choice of inversions, etc.) or slight interpretations of the melody that any singer would make in a cover version anyway. ====== I am what you might call a musical generalist. I listen to pretty much everything and I compose in pretty much any style, though I concentrate mainly on folk, folk-rock, rock, synth-pop, alternative, comedy, musical theatre, jazz, new-age, film music, avant-garde, and the occasional lullaby (why sing your kid to sleep with "Rock-a-bye Baby" when you can can create something personalized?). I've done most of my professional (i.e. paid) work in the theatre, where I've been musical director for dozens of productions. I was also musical director of Mental Floss, the legendary Miami improv group, for over 500 performances; I recently did a stint with Laughing Gas, which rose from the ashes of Mental Floss 11 years ago to become the longest running improv group in South Florida. As a singer-songwriter, I've concentrated most of my energy on my signature style of synth-driven folk-rock (sort of Indigo Girls meets Vangelis). I'm also something of a minor celebrity in the world of Filk (folk music for science fiction fans), where I am proud to be the object of the worlds smallest international fan base.

Story behind the song
Like all of my "2025 remixes," this version of the song was made with Suno. Getting Suno to not alter one's material is a struggle, and this song really got mangled in places. It doesn't get the chord progression right until the second verse, and the song goes completely off the rail after about the 3:30 mark. I recommend listening to my original version (scroll down the page) to hear how the second half of the song goes. Listen to this one to hear how it (mostly) should sound. Normally, I don't post Suno results that miss the mark by this much, but this was literally my 43rd attempt, and it wasn't getting any better.
Lyrics
I found my heart here where it lives Deep in my past, with my memories Under the featherfall of my dreams Laughing like a child I found my youth where I left it last Turning cartwheels through the snow In the sunblind and shimmering Curious and wild (The sky drinks the sea The earth drinks the rain) I found my dream in a battered box The case was cracked and the edges worn But it was not faded, it was not torn But I forget Forget the rules Poems and profanities like Candy on my lips And I forget The highs and lows I focus on the blind spot Like watching an eclipse The moon eats the sun The earth eats the moon The sky drinks the sea The earth drinks the rain I found my heart on a dusty shelf I found my vision no longer clouded I left my fear there where I found it On Celestial Street [instrumental] I found a book, it was full of leaves From an autumn so long ago And they crumbled at my touch I found my life in a secret place To which I thought I'd lost the direction Then I finally made the connection The moon needs the sun The earth needs the moon The sea dreams the sky And the sky dreams the rain I need the sun To see my shadow I need the moon To tumble and shiver I need the rain To run like a river I need the sun To see my shadow I need the moon To tumble and shiver I need the rain To run like a river On celestial street [outro] Come out of your houses Stand on the corner Come watch from the floodbanks As your children walk on water Come down from the treetops Stand on the border Come drift with the driftwood As your children walk on water every day Come out of your houses Stand on the corner Come watch from the floodbanks As your children walk on water Come down from the treetops Stand on the border Come drift with the driftwood As your children walk on water every day Every day Every day Every day
